Navigation is Walcamp's response to teens seeking to take ahold of their faith and dive into what living well as a Christian looks like. Our 2024-25 Navigation season theme is "One" based upon Ephesians 4:5 - "One Lord, One faith, One baptism." We'll look at our pillars of Community, the Word, and Service through the lens of this verse and the verses that surround it.

Each high school retreat in the series is based on one of 3 Pillars: Community, The Word, and Service. Attend one or attend all 3! They are intended to build on each other but they can also stand alone. Price for this weekend retreat is $135.00
Throughout this series of 3 retreats, we will deep dive into how these three pillars impact navigating the Christian life in a secular world. Each retreat will include a facilitator to guide the conversation, team building and camp activities, Worship on Saturday evening, and meals. Our goal for these retreats is that our teens will walk away from these retreats secure in the Truth of Christ’s love for them personally through time spent in community, the Word, and service together.
-
Community October 25-27, 2024: How can a strong Christian community change your life? How can you invite people who don’t know Christ yet into these communities well? Northern Illinois District President Buss will lead Saturday Night Worship.
-
The Word January 17-19, 2025: How does Christ change our lives? How can we listen to the Word of God through Scripture?
-
Service March 28-30, 2025: Why are we called as Christians to serve others? How can service change lives, both ours and others?
These retreats are set up so you can come as a group or an individual. Different from our Junior High Retreats, youth sign up individually and a youth leader from your congregation is not needed to attend. What is Navigation?
Navigation is Walcamp’s new Youth Ministry Program. Created for high school students,
Navigation aims to explore the True Light in this dark world while building upon the 3 pillars of
Community, the Word, and Service. For the 2023-24 Retreat Season, this will take the shape of three
weekend retreats for high schoolers to dig into their faith and how they can apply it every day.
Do youth leaders need to come with their youth?
Adult leaders will not be required to attend this retreat, Walcamp will be completely staffing these retreat weekends.
However, if adult leaders would like to participate for the weekend, they are welcome to contact Anna “Pearl” Reineke at anna@walcamp.org for more information on what that opportunity may look like.
Do I need to register as part of a group?
A group is not needed for our NAVIGATION retreats. Similar to our Summer Camp Programs, Youth can register individually to attend. All are encouraged to invite their friends, but each individual will need to register seperatly
How much will it cost for my youth to attend a retreat?
Each retreat is priced at $130 – this includes four meals, a themed t-shirt, and full programming
based around the pillar for the weekend. If you need financial aid, there are funds available. Contact
Anna or give our office a call – (815) 784-5141.
What does drop-off and pick-up look like?
Arrival on Friday night will run from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Lodge. A check-in table staffed by
a Walcamp team member will be located near the entrance of the Lodge. Bring everything in with you
and your camper – luggage, bedding, medications, and any missing forms – when you check-in. We will
all move our stuff out to the cabins after everyone is checked in.
Pickup will operate in a similar manner. You will sign your camper out at a table set up in the
Lodge. Your camper’s luggage will already be over there, so all that will be left for them is to say good-
bye. Pickup will run from 10:30 – 11:00 am on Sunday morning.
What can my camper expect from the weekend?
Each of these retreat weekends will be unique, but there are some consistent pieces you can
expect. Each weekend will include some of our classic seasonal camp activities, a worship service, and
time spent exploring the Word of God and growing in faith.
