Youth Ministry Director
Full-time Year-round position

 

Walcamp is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Ministry Director.  This role involves creating a transformative spiritual environment for campers while overseeing all aspects of the Walcamp's youth ministry. As the Youth Ministry Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging, biblically focused activities and nurturing relationships with campers to help them grow in their faith.

At Walcamp, we are dedicated to offering a transformative camp experience that empowers youth to grow in their faith, develop leadership skills, and create lasting friendships. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of young people, guiding them toward becoming strong, faith-driven leaders

Walcamp is a partner organization of the National Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Association, a group of 25+ Lutheran camps throughout the United States. If you are looking for opportunities to work outdoors, share the love of Jesus, and facilitate life-changing experiences for youth, our NLOMA camps provide a wide range of geographic, cultural and interest-based opportunities beyond what any one camp can offer.

Junior Counselors

High School Age Applicants

Spend one or more weeks of this summer sharing your faith and serving youth, families, and persons with special needs. Earn volunteer hours, improve your resume, and learn new skills that will be useful in a future career.

This summer we are introducing a mid-summer all high school week for our overnight program. We strongly encourage our Junior Counselors to set aside this week and enjoy Walcamp as a camper with other youth their age! This week will include facets of leadership training, faith development, and adventure while building up a community of young Christians. 

We also will have a training day on a day to be scheduled - which will be from 9am - 5pm. This day will introduce our Junior Counselors to the Summer Staff and give them an understanding of what the expectations are for their service at camp, along with equipping them for sharing their faith and leading a group.

The Ideal Candidate For This Role

Volunteer Basic Info and Benefits

  • Most Jr Counselors serve between 1-3 weeks during the summer
  • Additional service weeks may be available for students eager to serve with our Camp Agape program.
  • High school students can request credit for up to 40 hours of volunteer service hours for each completed week of service.

Camp Agape Volunteers

Adult and High School Age Applicants

Camp Agape Volunteers spend a week or weekend at camp serving as a "Camp Buddy" to one or more campers with developmental disabilities. Campers and Volunteers participate in classic camp activities, Bible Experiences and games. Volunteers serve in a group alongside our Camp Counselors.

Qualifications

  • Adults age 18+ - please register as a Camp Agape Volunteer
  • High School students under age 18 - please register as a Jr Counselor

Outdoor Education Facilitators (Part-time)

Do you love kids and working in outdoors?  Our Outdoor Educators work with school groups who come out to learn about nature, science, and God’s love.  This job is for those who work well with kids, can learn to teach from a lesson plan, and can think quickly on their feet.  This job is a part-time position with flexible hours.  Evenings and weekends are required.
