Youth Ministry Specialist:

Do you value what Camp Ministry does in the lives of our Christian Youth?  Do you have a heart for Youth Ministry?  Do you have tons of youth ministry ideas and no place to put them into action?  Do you wish to work in an environment that encourages new ideas and empowers you to develop new programs?  Do you want to be a part of the exciting new ministry opportunities that are happening at Walcamp?

If you are excited by the above then Walcamp is the place for you.  We are looking to add a Youth Ministry Specialist to our Team.  Some of the benefits that come along with this role are:

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, schedule and lead on-site youth events, such as our
    Jr High Retreats, Parent/Child or Family Retreats, and
    Camp Agape Retreats (serving persons with disabilities).
  • Plan, schedule and lead off-site events (retreats, lock-ins).
  • Train any assigned Small Group Leaders (SGLs) or event
    volunteers to lead activities and fulfill their ministry roles.
  • Schedule and lead chapels with area Christian schools,
    including music, scripture, messages, and a simple order
    of worship.
  • Communicate with group leaders to determine their event
    goals and the needs of their individual groups.
  • Host self-led retreat groups and lead activities as requested.
  • Participate in camp activities whenever possible; be more
    than an observer.
  • Lead the Youth Ministry team in worship, providing
    opportunities for them to step up and take the lead.

  • Demonstrates a true love for Christ and His people.
  • Enjoys the outdoors and youth ministry.
  • Energetic, Organized, and a willingness to work a varied weekly schedule that includes nights and weekends.
  • Can't wait to see their ideas come to fruition
  • Be coachable and willing to grow in their personal leadership skills.
  • Leadership position: Age 21+ required

Walcamp is a partner organization of the National Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Association, a group of 25+ Lutheran camps throughout the United States. Junior Counselors

High School Age Applicants

Spend one or more weeks of this summer sharing your faith and serving youth, families, and persons with special needs. Earn volunteer hours, improve your resume, and learn new skills that will be useful in a future career.

We recommend that first-time Jr Counselors attend one week of our Teen Leaders Summer Program before volunteering. Attendance is required for first-year Jr Counselors who have not yet completed 10th grade.

The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Enthusiastic... Camp is an awesome environment for play, growth, and for sharing new experiences with others.

  • Leader in training: open to ages 14-17; age 13 eligible following participation in Teen Leaders I

Volunteer Basic Info and Benefits

  • Most Jr Counselors serve between 1-3 weeks during the summer
  • Additional service weeks may be available for students eager to serve with our Camp Agape program.
  • High school students can request credit for up to 40 hours of volunteer service hours for each completed week of service.

Camp Agape Volunteers

Adult and High School Age Applicants

Camp Agape Volunteers spend a week or weekend at camp serving as a "Camp Buddy" to one or more campers with developmental disabilities. Campers and Volunteers participate in classic camp activities, Bible Experiences and games. Volunteers serve in a group alongside our Camp Counselors.

Qualifications

  • Adults age 18+ - please register as a Camp Agape Volunteer
  • High School students under age 18 - please register as a Jr Counselor

Outdoor Education Facilitators (Part-time)

Do you love kids and working in the outdoors?  Our Outdoor Educators work with school groups who come out to learn about nature, science, and God’s love.  This job is for those who work well with kids, can learn to teach from a lesson plan, and can think quickly on their feet.  This job is part-time position with flexible hours.  Evenings and weekends are required.
